About Rita Börlin

Rita Börlin is a Sweden based painter, sculptor and former educator. Rita paints in ink, aquarell and oil colors both figuratively and abstractly. For sculpting she uses mostly stoneware and is now even exploring porcelain.

She was born in the north part of Sweden and moved to Stockholm, Sweden for her art education. Growing up on the countryside, by the sea, in a creative family gave her access to both the closeness to her family that is explored in an ancient and modern tradition of art in her portraits and work of nature.

Nature became a source for her interest in using colors in these traditions of art.

Rita graduated in 1996 from the Stockholm University College of Arts Crafts and Design, with a focus on Art Education and Design. After graduation she has been teaching at High School and simultaneously worked with her artistry.

Rita has exhibited her art in Sweden and Germany. She is now working full time as an artist and she loves to explore and develop her ideas in her studio.

Said about Rita Börlin
Original Global Art Gallery, Work description

“We can say that Kandinsky was the creator of abstract art, of the dissolution of form, of the absence of the figure as the only goal of justifying art. But this first abstraction happened more than a century ago, since the subsequent motivations for its use come from language changes linked to the contingency and to the overexposure we have in the 21st century to audiovisual media.

The works of Rita Börlin do not start from an introspection or a search for a new language that validates her works, these are the result of the experimentation by the contribution of the design, the use of diverse materials, the liberation of the color, in function of the image that does not need figuration.”
